2015
Unfortunately, we were not able to do much camping before the year of 2015 due to crazy work schedules. Finally, in July of 2015 we are able to make it out! Kristian was 15 months old at the time and we tent camped. We were at Wapiti Campground site 24. Kristian did surprisingly well, and using a campfire to solidify "Hot, don't touch!" works wonders. The reason it works so well is because they can feel the heat of it, long before they get close enough to touch it.
Our first official camping trip as a family of 3! We are Wapiti Campground, site 24.
We had a blast trying out the hiking backpack!
Throwing rocks, was one of Kristian's favorite things to do.
Teaching how to make the perfect smore
I remember arriving shortly after lunch, and setting up camp. Kristian wasn't quite sure about the tent. But after exploring it a few times, he loved it! Connected to the loop of the campground, was a bridge that crossed the creek. On the other side of the bridge, there was a nice access to it. We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with Nana, Papa.
Kristian got to enjoy a lot of firsts: camping, the hiking backpack, a tent, throwing rocks in a river, smores, and probably more I can't think of now. It was an amazing time! Only thing that put a damper on it was 2 weeks after we got back, Nana and Papa sent us a picture from their newspaper of a bear at that campsite! We decided we should probably upgrade from tent camping....
